“Beautiful photograph from roadside America. Jeep CJ-2A with full hard top. Super-clean vehicle. Post-war period, photo is undated. Suburban background subject matter. Pic is chemically produced on glossy scalloped-edge photo paper and is a good black and white. Rectangular pic measures 3.5″ x 5.25″ and is in excellent condition.”
The photo appears to be from a Polaroid Land Camera. In the 50s growing up, my parents would entertain a lot and there was at least one or 2 of these at the parties. They took excellent B&W photos and, when peeled, would have the same edges and hinge (on the left). Still have albums full from those days. They started making these in the late 40s, so this photo could well date to that period.
Barney,
Hadn’t thought about that, but it makes sense. I’ll have to keep a watch for those borders on other photos.

Like a lot of things, it’s generational. With my love of photography developing in the 60s, I received 2 cameras; a Brownie 610 and a Polaroid Swinger, the later took the same-edged b&w photos, just smaller. Have a box full of those memories still.
