Sadly, this is the last issue from the batch of Jeep News issues purchased last month. I’ll watch for more to hit eBay …
The eight pages of the November 1962 issue of Jeep News directs most of its pages to the new jeep models, which isn’t too surprising. Apart from that, page six covers the 3rd Annual Jeepathon race at Las Cruces, New Mexico, while page seven highlights more support for the Hatari movie.
On page 5 they talk about Willys factory rebuilt engines being available. Have many of these been found? I searched on the CJ2a forum and only saw one with a label saying it was factory rebuilt in Canada. They also mentioned they pained these engines red.
Also on page five is a great local ad done by the Dallas Jeep dealer.
It features E.J. Holub, A star player for the AFL’s (which later merged with the NFL to become the united NFL monolith we know today) Dallas Texans. If you haven’t heard of the Texans, it’s probably because you are too young, in 1963 the team moved up north to Kansas City and became the Chiefs.
Holub was famous for being a starter on both the offensive and defensive lines…meaning he played ALL of the game.
He retired in 1970 and is in the Football Hall of Fame.
He passed away in 2019 at the age of 81.
Awesome. Thanks for posting these.
