““Sinclair Oil Willys Jeep WWII Uncle Sam Gasoline Ration Book Alton IL. 4 X 2 inch paper folder/sleeve with mileage card and ration stamps. honest wear from use and age.”
We ended up buying this for our showcase. We have a lot of similar paper items from the war. Where it showed a Jeep, it was almost always a slat-grill. Seems like that was what hit the illustrator’s impression first. This highlights not so much a shortage of gasoline then, but the shortage of rubber. The reason they used leather and felt for draft boots and had steel inserts in radiator hoses of the g503s.
