This is worth a look. It’s got the brake assist as well as the updates. Those front seats might be really comfy, but supportive jeep seats.

1/2 ton? Did they beef up the axles, suspension and frame from 1/4 ton to 1/2 ton? Looks pretty good πŸ‘.

The only M38A1 item I can find is the hood, OD with shovel holder, held on with bolts. I can’t see the spring hangers very clear, might be M38A1 frame as David said. Nice Jeep, if title and registration are OK.

    Elevated seat…Hunting Jeep?

When living in (very) dry west Texas in 1998, the first Jeep I looked at was an early CJ-5 and it was so full of rust my Jeep expert friend, (who would go on to restore the CJ-5 I did buy), refused to have any part of it.
So, so much for rust free Texas Jeeps.
That could by why the M38A1 had a different body.
