UPDATE: **SOLD**
This is a former brush or fire vehicle. Thanks to Tom for forwarding.
“Up for sale is my 5700 Original Mile 1971 CJ6. This was a fire vehicle since new. The jeep runs and drives, it probably needs a tune up after sitting for so long. Clean and clear title in hand! ”
Looks like a decent price in today’s market. As discussed before, not sure which way it is more valuable, Fire Jeep or back to original stock?
Not a lot of mods for a fire Jeep.
Looks very stock and I haven’t seen many 6s that new with plastic fender flares and marker lights).
I’d keep it just the way it is. Very cool and in great original shape.
Close to my home town too. If I was still there I’d probably jump on it. Hard to read the hood printing but may be for the Chardon Ohio Fire Dept. I am partial to a CJ6 anyway.
I’m pretty excited to be the new owner of this CJ-6. I’ve owned a LOT of Jeeps (the majority of which were later-model CJs), but only a handful of early ones (M170, FC150, FC170). This ‘6 will be driven/enjoyed, but preserved nicely.
Congrats Craig! It looks like a great find and a worthy one to care for and enjoy! Thanks for the update and best of luck with it!

Congrats Craig, nice Jeep!
Marker lights were standard from late 69 on including 71. Right rear red missing here because it would have been in the middle of the side mount spare tire..
Congrats Craig. 71 was a great year! See ours in our ad at the lower right bottom.
Thanks, all, and thank you for the insight, Barney! I have been trying to figure out what that extra hole/grommet by spare tire carrier holes was for, and didn’t register that it was for the missing marker light wiring. I’m also hoping to confirm that it also has the offset flanged Dana 44 rear axle. Thanks for the callout on the ad below, too (nice ‘6!). I’m going to add your information to my address book, and will likely be calling you in the very near future. Thanks again.
If anyone is interested in seeing the vehicle in a little more detail, and/or seeing a short test-drive, the guy I bought it from has a video here:

I just booked a shipper yesterday, and hope to have it delivered to me here in East Tennessee next week.
