UPDATE: Any experts out there familiar with 1950s corn pickers? Barry Thomas from Farmjeep.com asked me to ask you all if anyone knows who built the Corn Picker branded by Willys-Overland (see brochure below). He thinks it was CO-OP, but doesn’t know for sure. You can view his whole corn-picking post here: https://www.farmjeep.com/farm-jeeps-at-corn-harvest-time/

In the meantime, enjoy this video of a CJ-5 pulling a corn picker:

I wonder how many of things like this survive? I’ve seen several jeep loaders and a forklift once. It would be cool if the “jeep museum” being planned in Toledo would have some things like this.

One of the interesting points about this brochure, is that it does not mention a manufacturer for this Willys Jeep special equipment, only that it is sold though Willys Overland Motors. I doubt that Willys manufactured this corn husker, most likely a independent farm equipment Co. Un usual for the name to be omitted.

    Mike,

That’s what makes this line of brochures so interesting to me, too.

Definitely a good design for the Jeep with the snout to the left of the operator making it a lot easier to operate the picker.
All the other pull type pickers pulled by tractors had the snouts to the right of the operator.

As far as I know, which is usually a little bit about stuff that interests me, pretty sure wood brothers was a left handed picker.

I’ve ordered the book and spoken with the author. All he has is this brochure, but thinks it might have been made by CO-OP I’m going to try and narrow down the search to those who made a left handed picker and will include the Woods Brothers.
Thanks for the help. I’m feeling more confident that I can figure this out.
