Somebody snapped it up!
Anyone out there have any documents or data on these winches? I picked one up a couple of months ago for about $150 that had been siting in a garage on a shelf for about 35+ years thinking if I can get it working I’d love to see it on the front of my 45 CJ2A. And, out of curiosity, I’d really like to know a little more about it like the age and maybe find some parts diagrams, replacement part numbers etc. But, when I try and hunt down anything out on the web about it, the amount of information is fairly limited. Mine has the brass data tag and a serial number of 1232365.
I’m pretty sure these came out early-mid 1960’s, I have one and found info on them a few years back. Mine doesn’t have that riveted tag, I think my serial number is stamped on it. I thought mine was within a year of my Jeep (1965).
I doubt that I saved any info, and it was a few computers ago. Sorry I can’t help.
This one includes(ed) the bracket, so it would the been worth the drive, Dave!
Bill , I currently only have access to our new truck, which sucks on gas mileage (11 to 12mph). That would be an EXPENSIVE drive for a $125 winch. The GCJ is parked in Spokane waiting for Ann to return from the east coast.
Andy at Warn did a little write up on these- https://www.warn.com/the-history-of-the-warn-belleview-winch . Brennan Metcalf is making reproduction parts and new motors that are bi-directional. https://brennans-garage.com/collections/all. These eventually morphed into the 8274 winch in 1974.
