1959 Willys Jeep FC-150
Forward Control 4×4
12 Volt System
This 1959 Jeep Forward Control was part of a private Willys collection in California for over 20 years. Prior to the 2000’s it’s only other known residence was Nevada. As far as can be seen, this little truck has had an exclusively dry desert life before recently coming to the northwest to be put back on the road. Built by Willys, its cab over engine layout was based on the Jeep CJ-5 carriage with a short 81″ wheelbase and 74″ bed. This being the rarest year for the FC150, 1959 saw just 1,500 built. It’s equipped with the 134ci Hurricane inline-four, paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a three-speed transfer case. The seats were reupholstered and paint retouched as well as it appears that the engine was overhauled along with other systems sometime ago in its past. All sealed up with no leaks.
To get her back on the road, the fuel system was cleaned, new sending unit and carburetor rebuilt with the addition of an electric fuel pump / A new 12V battery installed as well as some electrical components and switches / Heater was gone through and hoses replaced / Brake hydraulic components, e-brake assembly, hoses and shoes installed / New leaf springs, shocks and shackles as well as a host of other items / Near mint operational instrument cluster, all new sending units (fuel & temp). She starts easily, shifts through all the gears, tracks straight with responsive steering and brakes well.
Plenty left for the new buyer to attend to and enjoy as they maintain, or restore, and make this unique and special vehicle their very own. Several noteworthy items needing more attention: Rare factory installed Motorola AM radio is present but doesn’t function & Vacuum powered wiper system has been serviced but needs more attention to function correctly. Unable to engage 4WD. Glass: all original, cracks on drivers vent, crack on passenger side window and some delam to rear glass. There is a small patch of rust holes on the lower back side or the cab near the frame roughly covering a 1″ X 2″ area, scaling in parts of the bed, but otherwise a very solid rig well preserved by the desert.
Service manual and parts book included. Comes with a box of odds and ends, extra cluster, etc. Also included is a hard to find, year correct, Washington State vintage “Truck” license plate. Clean WA state title in hand. Truck is rare & the condition is choice. If you’re hoping to get it for less, it will be listed at auction in July if not sold locally; however the auction sale trends of these Forward Controls typically exceed the asking price. Serious inquiries only, please. More photos available upon request.
