During 1961, along with non-animal-related brochures, Willys Motors produced this series of ads using different animals. It appears they were only produced between January and September of 1961.
January 1961: Dog
February 1961: Busy Bee
March 1961: Horse
April 1961: Lion
May 1961: Bunnies
June 1961: Kangaroo
July 1961: Mule
August 1961: Hippo
September 1961: Bear
October 1961: None found
November 1961: None found
December 1961: None found
Not surprisingly the April 1961 is clearly the best!
Oddly, I don’t see any branding. Was the message continued on the other side of these post cards? How did these cards communicate “Willys”?
For those who don’t catch the link. Click on each month/year and it will show you the whole fold out brochure.
X-CUSE ME ? — I NEVER LET ANIMALS RIDE IN MY WILLYS — WHY SHOULD I ? — ANIMALS HAVE 2 OR 4 LEGS TO — WALK OR RUN ALONG SIDE THE VEHICLE AS I RIDE IN — COMFORT !! — I ACTUALLY DONT HAVE ANY ANIMALS ANYMORE — MY LAST CAT ” WOMPY ” IS BURIED OUT BEHIND THE BARN — 4 FEET DOWN , 4 PAWS UP — BAD KITTY !!!
Joe, these are actually the front pages of brochures. As Blaine notes, click on the link (I need to make each pic clickable to the respective brochure). Sorry for any confusion.
