“1948 Willys tow truck. This has a 228 Studebaker engine that is estimated to be a 1951. Needs restoration. The engine will turn over. Just don’t have time for it.”
WOW, love this, very cool old school Willys tow truck. Check out the tow bar with the mental plate at the end, pre, sling days, customers would complain that their chrome bumpers were being damaged when towed, so rubber belt slings were invented.
Studebaker V/8’s were a popular swap back in those days, If I remember correctly, the bolt patterns on the Willys transmission closely matched the Studebaker engine.
A service station in Passaic, remember asking about it.
