Nice photo of an ambulance jeep on Iwo Jima. The 43 GPW ambulance jeep I restored was also on Iwo Jima assigned to B company, 5 th Medical Bn, 27 Marines, 5 th Marine Division (original TAC markings discovered and preserved). The ambulance jeep I restored in now in possession of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Triangle, VA.
The restoration process took over six years, most of which was spent in research and a year and half to restore the jeep.
The jeep is put on display each February in the Museum.
Once the new Iwo Jima display is completed in the Museum, the jeep will be part of the display.
Hi Frank,
Thanks for the note and congrats on completing the research necessary to do an accurate restoration!
