This ad with women sipping tea while soldiers push through thick mud just expired on eBay, but will likely be relisted. It seems a bit unfair to women, as if they didn’t know a war was going on. I would imagine that most women likely were the main food shoppers and had to deal with shortages beyond just rubber.

uhh , my mother was a NAVY WAVE during WW2 — i dont she ever went overseas , but she did serve , i think at NAVAL AIR STATION CORPUS CHRISTI , TEXAS ? — she probably drove WILLYS or FORD JEEPS on the base there ? ? — my father said she was quite a looker – she won the base beauty pageants — then theres something about her working with GENERAL ELECTRIC on the MANHATTAN PROJECT ? — i’m sure she had no idea what she was building — of course my father was at PEARL HARBOR 1941 on the USS ENTERPRISE and thats another long AND HEROIC story … R.I.P. MA + PA ( 2 HEROS ) !!
