“Here is your chance to enjoy next summer rock crawling the Rubicon trail!! I have a “1942 Willys MB” for sale. It has a small block Ford V8 with a T18 4 speed transmission Dana 18 transfer case with a Warn all range over drive. It has a Dana 44 in rear and a Dana 27 up front, not sure if it has any lockers. It has 33X12.5 R15 tires. I has a clear California title in my name with out any back fees!! The engine does not currently run.”
I wonder what that master cylinder is out of, never seen one like it. I assume it has two pistons/cylinders hooked together by some sort of linkage. It is very compact for tight spaces.
It’s from a 50’s GM truck. Advanced Adapters sold them set up with a GM slave cylinder for hydraulic clutch, with a swinging pedal assembly to mount at the firewall. It was a very common conversion. I had one and it worked well. It’s a single cylinder master brake though like stock -so not as safe as a dual brake cylinder. Most folks doing a new firewall mount set up these days opt for a dual brake cylinder for safety, and a separate clutch cylinder if using a hydro clutch.
Looks like a great little Jeep. Swap in a late model fuel-injected junkyard 5.0L V8 and carry on.
Thanks Brian. I’ve seen these in older modified jeeps, but didn’t know where they originated.
