This DJ-3A has had a little body work, but looks to formerly be a DJ-3A Surrey given the footman loops on the front fenders.

I see the gas tank, but where is the fill location?
Steve … good point. Maybe the inlet is on the passenger side like was done with the conveyer belt DJs? Or, it’s inside the cargo area. It looks like to me it has a protection skid plate, like something from a 70s CJ-5 rather than a DJ-3A. My guess is that the tank rusted out and the tank and inlet were both switched.
There a couple of mods on this Jeep that are noticeable, the rear corners of the bed have been reinforced with patches, the steering wheel is not original and the rear panel has a cutout that the Surreys didn’t have along the lower portion where the bracing was for the drawbar. It is a possibility that it was a Surrey or maybe just a convertible model.
Figures that after commenting that I just returned from 2 months there and only saw one flatfender that they would be coming out of the bushes. Even without the locator on craiglist I could tell where it was on the inland waterway by the white guardrail. It’s within 500 feet of where I spent half the quarantine.
$3500 is about what it would cost per month to store it there in a rental unit.
That’s about 6 miles from the old Kaiser resort, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a Surrey.
Looks to still have a column shift, and lots of bondo.
I lived in Kailua from 1960 to 65 when my dad obtained two surreys. The one we kept was a 59 dj3a that I sold to Nick a few years ago. The other surrey my dad “gave” to a friend.
I remember my dad and I driving our surrey around the island of Oahu. Great vehicle and always cool.
Thanks for the memories Rick! Have any old photos of the jeeps?
