UPDATE: This was originally posted in 2012, but it’s worth a repost.
Dad never had an overdrive in his jeep, but did have this catalog (No. 1842). I suspect he built a few of these for Al Carroll.
I’ve attached a few random pictures below, but the PDF link includes all the pages and is downloadable to your computer.
I love it when people save stuff like this, and I absolutely hate it when they say they used to have something that sounds real cool “but we don’t have it anymore, we threw it out years ago”.
Great Steve. I’m glad you enjoy it. The funny thing is that I’ve been through dad’s literature before, but this was the first time I’d seen this catalog. I’m not sure how I missed it.
I spoke with dad tonight about it and he confirmed that he rebuilt quite a few of these. He called them “very primitive”, which I take to mean they broke easily and often.
Thanks for posting Dave. I’m sure it will help with mine.
remember when we used to buy brand new warn overdrives from THE ARCHER BROTHERS IN HAYWARD , CALIPHORNIA for around $200 bucks ?? — bought my first one in the early 70’s — still going strong in my willys overland jeep truck model 4wd — GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ART AND GARNER !!
