Save the sedan deliveries ! Again, parkway conversions not named for Parkway plant . Why would someone today cut up a rare sedan delivery?

You’re right in that Parkway Conversions are named after the roads on east coast called “parkways.”
Commercial vehicles – like the slab-sided Willys Delivery – were (and still are) banned from some of them (https://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/07/automobiles/07PARKWAYS.html and https://www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/parkway-restrictions.shtml and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkways_in_New_York). However, if windows are cut in the side of the Delivery, then it’s no longer a commercial vehicle, but a passenger vehicle and can drive on the parkways.
Hence, Parkway Conversion.
