This Kaiser Jeep of Canada-sponsored magazine featured the Jeepster Commando, complete with a College Bowl winner of a Custom adorned Jeepster Commando. The issue also highlights the Repair Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, which dismantled jeeps quickly across Canada (200 appearances from Victoria BC to St. Johns). (Great find off of eBay!)

Wow, this is cool, you could see how Kaiser was trying to expand their market by featuring women and Jeepster Commandos in their advertising. I must say, having owned a 1967 Jeepster Commando when new, it did attract a lot of young woman, and as a result, a lot of guys hung out with me because the Jeepster was a “Babe Magnet”. I know you can’;t say that today, but this was the 1960’s. We’d cruise up & down Clifton Ave, and young women would wait for us on street corners. I’d fill up the Jeepster with two dollars of Sunoco Custom Blended 240 and RIDE ALL NIGHT. Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end.
(Another story from my memory vault)
Another great story Mike 🙂 … I could imagine the Commandos would have been a unique draw.
