1959 Parkway? Wagon McCallen, TX eBay

Mike spotted this nice looking wagon. It’s located in Mexico, but seller claims they will drive it up to McAllen, Texas, if need be (that’s about 148 miles, so it’s certainly plausible … and there are eBay protections if seller doesn’t follow through, though I’ve never actually used them).

The terms and conditions on eBay motors fraud specifically exclude all vehicles older than 25 years

Being that this is in Mexico and listed as a Willys Rural, I ask this question; Did Willys Kaiser have a production facility in Mexico or just import from the U S A?

For some reason the system block your first comment .. I have no idea why. Anyway, Derek Redmond has the answer: https://cj3b.info/World/Mexico.html … seems to me this could have been assembled in Mexico or simple shipped down and sold in Mexico (the dealer paperwork may explain more).

Looking at the serial #, a bit different from what I’ve seen in the past. #5426813081MNLA, does the MNLA indicate Mexico built?

    Mike,

Thats a good question and I’d lean towards a yes on that, but could find no proof. However, the serial number is consistent with a 6-226 4×4 sedan built in 1959.

I contacted the seller, and just as I thought, he states that the Willys was imported from the U S A. When it comes down to trivial questions such as this, I get great satisfaction tracking down answers. Another one of life’s mysteries solved. Tune in next week for another episode of “Unsolved Mysteries”.
