I’m experimenting with a video player. Here are some short video clips from the trip. Click on the upper right hand side of the video to get a full screen view. Let me know if you run into issues.
Who says my wife is dramatic? lol
But, understandably, she was looking down this canyon
Love the Red Rocks of southern Utah!! Thanks for sharing!! The only issue I may have is they’re too short… can’t get enough of that scenery.
Thanks Joe … we’ll working on improving the videos. I didn’t actually know Ann was shooting these, or I would have put more thought into them.
Nice, clear precise… Dave, when you say video player, you’re talking about a program that plays videos, or a video editing program. The reason I ask is, I hear background music, was wondering if that’s the radio or a added soundtrack. Been fooling around with a video editing program myself, slowly but surely, learning.
Mike,
I’m using a special plug-in on the site that allows me to play videos we’ve made with our phones, that I’ve then uploading to the site in MP4 form (instead of uploading to youtube). So, it’s the plug-in I’m testing.
The music you hear was one of Karson’s songs. It’s being picked up by Ann’s phone. If I uploading this short video to youtube, most likely youtube would force me to remove it for copyright violation because of the music. I had that happen in the past.
Dave I went down the switchbacks of white rim canyon last year in the wifes 2018 jeep rubicon, cool as heck. This year I am going to do it in the 48 willys, I hope my brakes hold out. Cool videos.
Chris: Given you can crawl pretty slowly with those 5:38 gears, you should be fine. But, that’s a scary place to have bad brakes! Good luck!
I have been part of the unofficial Flat Fender Fun Run at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. I think you might find some of the videos of great interest especially those YouTube videos by a gentleman called Stan Fuller and his Grandpa flattie at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmmZpNsYb_yczVRS9AtecMQ
Thanks Graham. I’ll be happy to share them. So many videos hit youtube that I can’t keep track of them all!
Chris/Dave Good morning.
While watching these videos I was wonering which Jeep I’d want to be driving.
Dave what are your thoughts? Chris please let us know after driving your Willy what you think.
As for me, a nice new AC jeep would be my choice.
Thanks for sharing these videos, Dave! Beautiful scenery :-).
I really need to get my ’42 GPW out into places like this and Moab/Canyonlands isn’t too far from here… although I should probably start with our local trails nearby first.
Bob,
You mean a new jeep or an old jeep? The answer is complex. The newer jeep has the advantages of a top, air conditioning (even at 70 degrees the desert sun is hot), great brakes, comfortable seating, an automatic, and other modern features. The older jeep is much smaller, more nimble, and allows for more visual contact with the external world (give you more the feeling of the environment). So, in the end, it depends on your mood. If it were me, I’d want a modified flat fender, unless the temps were above eighty degrees, then I’d go new jeep (and I’d prefer our Grand Cherokee over the Wrangler).
