UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $14,500.
It appears to have a CJ-3A frame (no gussets).
“I am selling my 1947, restored, CJ2A to make room for another project. This is one of the nicest 72 year old CJ2A’s you will find around. Obviously there is no rust. I don’t need to sell it, I could make everything fit if I need to. Everything works except the driver side vacuum wiper that I need to look at. The engine has been rebuilt and runs amazing. These old CJ’s are getting very hard to find, especially in this condition. There has been a lot of money put into this Jeep and it shows. The frame and body tags are on it. I have used this mostly for parades and just driving the grandchildren around. I am asking $14,500 OBO. If you have thought about restoring one, you will realize how reasonable this price is.”
Dave, what does “no gussets” mean, and how does that make the frame CJ-3A (vice 2A)?
Also I noticed the top bow brackets are M-38, and not CJ, with no side bow holders.
Joe,
Good question. Like the MB/GPWs, the CJ-2A used frame horns or gussets to secure the front bumper to the frame like this 2A pic shows: http://bkreutz.smugmug.com/1947-Willys-Jeep-CJ2A/Front-bumper/052007-002/218041009_Y7LYk-XL.jpg
The CJ-3A went away from the gussets/frame horns. This is the best shot of a Cj-3A bumper attached to the frame I could find: http://www.squidsfabshop.com/flatdriv/images/bg07212.JPG from this page http://www.squidsfabshop.com/flatdriv/flatdriv.html
So, if you look in the pic above, you can see this frame lacks the gussets/frame horns. (Or it’s a 2A frame with the gussets removed).
Yeah, that’s strange on the brackets. Maybe the body was redone and the brackets were add later? Or it is a repro body with brackets added?
