Charles just purchased this CJ-2A. He’d been watching eWillys for a long time and finally found one that was near him with a body in great shape. However, what’s unusual about this 2A is that it has an electric fan installed under the passenger seat. He said it’s a pretty heavy fan, too. Anyone ever heard of that?

Are there heater hoses running underneath the car to the fan box? I had a very similar set up in several of my vintage automobiles ranging from the 1930’s and right up into the 1960’s.
Craig, a heater would make more sense.
Studebakers had an underseat heater from at least ’46 thru ’52. They were very effective. They had a separate blower motor under the dash to defrost the windshield.
my 1956 continental mk II had dual a/c — top that ? — I have old stewart warmer summer wind ? gas heaters out in the barn — put one of those under the seat and TOAST YOUR BUNS !
My first thought it was a heater also.
There’s a heater similar in appearance on Willys For Sale now. Made by Arvin I think.
Under seat heaters were a very common feature across many / most brands, peaking in popularity in the 40’s and 50’s. The primary concept was to get some warmth into the back seat area. It used to be a lot more common to have folks in the back. Not sure how well that applies to a CJ, though.
