The last thing you need in a Willys is a 383
383 with a t90 trans, like Jack says would that trans and axle hold up under full power without snapping something?
I knew folks that race jeeps with V8s and T-90s. If you don’t drop the clutch too hard, in most cases the power train will survive. But, T-90s are cheap. I suspect that was one reason they were used for years. I would say the axles were weaker points than the t-90.
I still remember my ‘ride’ in a Willys CJ V8 in the 70’s with just a 327 in it and on 33″ tires, and I would best describe it as like “riding on a cube of Jello in a hurricane” (So Fl influence) and a “one time survival experience”. A stroker 383??? That just adds Tornadoes to the scene, IMO. Hang on tight and hope for the best…
