“1962 Willys with Plow, stored indoors, clean NJ title. $6000.00, live close by rt78.”
Contrary to what may be popular opinion, this is a nice example of a “Original” NJ Jeep. Nothing fancy about it, just nice aged look to it. Tar on the floors was how we did things back in the day in NJ. I still remember my mom yelling at me for tracking this goop into the house. Now a days, everyone is obsessed with everything being PERFECT, being perfect leaves one’s life longing for more. This CJ3B still has the dealer sticker on it, (2) how cool, in my humble opinion, worth the asking price.
Thanks Mike. I didn’t know about the tarring of floors ( never before encountered it).
Oh yeah, It used to be SOP where I came from. The oldtimers used to mix up some tar & turpentine, or kerosene & brush the mixture on the chassis, fender wells, etc..Anywhere you could get to .I still treat the usual spots on my vehicles with bar & chain oil once a year, It doesn’t seem as popular as it once was, at least I don’t know of anyone else who’s doing it anymore.
I’ve been buying and driving cj3b’s for almost 45 years and I’ve never seen it.
This just looks ruf around the edges. My guess pretty rusty underneath.
Yeah, rough around the edges, like me.
I looked at the Jeep recently and it is in pretty good condition. The front floors were rusted and the owner used a bit of sheet metal and sealant to repair. It was then painted black. Jeep will require new hat channel reinforcements and front floors replaced. The seller and I decided on a price and I will be picking up the Jeep the beginning of August.
Jerry, Glad to hear this, I just Knew this was a good deal, “Jersey Jeep”.
Hi Jerry,
Congrats on the purchase! I’ve updated the post. Have fun with it!

The only way I know how to replace floors and hat channels is to take body off.
Now this is a surprise, thought it was a done deal, if I remember correctly, the seller even corresponded on this web site. Today’s culture of instant gratification plays a part in many of these no show buyers.
Still for sale, I don’t get it, this IS a nice Jeep at at a good price. Does the roofing tar give it a Bad Name? Look at those original dealer stickers, Heavy weight western snowplow, nice hard top, tries with lots of tread left on them, this was important when buying a vehicle. Old Jeeps are now the current “FAD”, once again, BIG MONEY has captured and ransomed the old car hobby. That is why this Willys goes unsold. But then again, as always, what do I know, just a poor boy from NJ who always liked Jeeps.
I just noticed this Jeep is also listed on Ebay with a different location, looks like someone did buy it and now changed their mind, maybe just trying to make a fast buck.
