“An east county San Diego Jeep since it was brand new. This is the “Dispatcher” model, that was originally sold as a 2wd.
This Jeep was professionally converted to 4wd with surplus military M38 parts by Border Parts in Spring Valley. Saginaw steering, Dana 25 front axle, Dana 44 rear, Dana 18 transfer case, and a T90 transmission with Borg Warner overdrive completes this rock-solid suspension and drivetrain conversion.
The engine is a 1964 Ford 260 cid V-8 out of a Fairlane. Engine routinely starts on first crank. A new ring gear on the flywheel, new starter and new clutch were recently installed by Action Cylinder Heads in Santee.
This Jeep is very fun to drive and gets a lot of attention too. It cruises at 55 MPH on the freeway with no problem. A little over 75,300 original miles on the odometer with current registration (Expires 10/2019). Spare components are included but not pictured (Jerry cans and racks, spare tire and mount, top bows, top and doors, etc.).
I am restoring a WWII jeep and am selling this one to help finish that project. I would love to keep both Jeeps, but unfortunately I can only keep one. Thank you for looking.”
Sent an email to seller asking for the serial number for the database.
What about this one is still DJ, besides the gas filler location (gas tank not visible)? Even the steering has been changed. I wonder what happened to all the RARE replaced DJ parts, or did they just stick a DJ body on the frame of a CJ, and it isn’t really a DJ?
Windshield, body, speedometer, hand brake (though brake position looks changed on the dash), and frame could be? I need more pics.
