Looks like the owner installed an electric windshield wiper motor. Looks to be the “Matsuba” Japanese type. The driver has to manually turn it on or off when needed. Interesting. Never seen one set up like that.

That wheel/horn ring looks period-correct for a ’49. The wheel has a vinyl wrap-around cover on it.
This looks like a screamin’ deal; If it wasn’t on the other side of the country I’d be on it like stink on you-know-what.

I wish some of the pictures were clearer. It’s a ‘49 so I’m assuming it’s 2wd. Can’t tell from the pics if there are any transfer case levers.

    Gliii,

The first image appears to show the 2wd axle. So, I think you are correct.

This appears to be a 2WD station wagon(the stock hubcaps won’t fit over the 4WD hubs), it has a 3 speed on the column, and I can see the overdrive button below the dash, as well as an original radio. The horn ring is factory, and was an option. It was also on the Station Sedans and the Jeepsters. Early 1940s Studebaker sedans used the same one with a different insert in the center of the ring. Looks to be in decent shape, depending on how much rust is in the rockers and front quarter panels as well as the tailgate area.
