Marshal Thompson was his hero.
Somebody call Ted Nugent.
Someone a few weeks ago at some zoo somewhere painted a donkey to look like a zebra. Was on the news. Not that I am implying this is the same thing that happened here.

EXCUSE ME ?? — A 1973 JEEP CJ-6 DID NOT COME WITH A 225 V-6 ??? — MY 67 CJ-6 HAS ONE — IN 1973 YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD A 232 OR 258 SIX — OR A 304 V-8 — YOUR 6 SEEMS TO BE A ” HERMAPHRODITE ” ???
Good point Vlad.
In the early 1970’s, there was a TV show titled DAKTARI, ran for about 4 or 5 seasons. For most of those episodes Toyota Landcruisers were used painted with Zebra stripes. My memory is foggy on this, but at least one episode was filmed using a Willys Crackerbox wagon from the 1950’s early 60’s painted with Zebra stripes. It might have been the pilot episode.
aha! I’d never heard of that show. I see a Daktari post in our future. Looks like they used several different jeeps on the show. Thanks Mike!
I recall watching Daktari also, as a youngster. Can’t say I took notice of vehicle brands at that age, but the stripes told me Daktari right away! Also recall Clarence, the cross-eyed lion.
DAKTARI AND NOT HATARI ?? — HATARI WAS A MOVIE WITH JOHN WAYNE SET IN AFRICA — WITH RED BUTTONS AND SOME LOVELY EURO-ACTRESS — ALSO STARRED A FC-170 STAKE BODY AND SEVERAL CJ-6’S — I HATE IT , THEY RUINED THOSE 6’S — ALSO AN OLD CHEVY EARLY 50’S TRUCK — THE DUKE — TOUGH ENOUGH !!
Yep, a “DAKTARI” post will arrive on Sunday morning.
COOL!!!
What’s The top speed on it
As part of the TV series, famed Hollywood customizer George Barris, did a J-10 with stripes, a canopy and external gun racks.
I think it was for car shows and promotional work and not used in the series itself.I
There are photos of it in Barris books.
When restoring my white CJ-5 about 25 years ago, it was stripped of its canvas top and other bits prior to paint. I had to drive it like that for a week.
I did entertain the idea of putting some temporary stripes on it…
