Dan, his boys, and a friend drove from Auburn to Packwood, Washington, in Dan’s CJ-2A and GPW the other day. The weather was perfect for their trip (It has been beautiful here all week). As you can see, they had a great time!

My guess, every one of those kids will have a Jeep later in life.
I bet you are right Bob in NC. I did the same to my son.
Those poor kids don’t have a chance! A life of addiction is not pretty. My first jeeping trip was in Ouray Colorado in 1965 while visiting my aunt and uncle that lived there. I was 5 years old and have had the monkey on my back since! I can never get enough of pictures like that! Good job Dan, you’re a good man!
-Hi Bob in nc. On the fourth day of our trip my third son who was set on a lifted truck for his first rig asked if it would be alright if he got a jeep instead…
-Hi Roger in Oregon. We’ll hope that jeeps are the worst addiction they’ll catch!
In a go go go loud world of busyness I’ve found an overwhelming amount of freedom in stepping into the 6v haven of 45mph top speed. Taking every long way around I can and nothing to listen to but kids laughing and the wind rushing by.
ROGER DODGER IN OREGON — WAS IT THE ” WE DRIVE YOU LOOK ” FC-170 JEEP TOURS IN OURAY ??? — I USED TO SEE THOSE , BUT NEVER TOOK THE TOUR — BUT I WAS IN SILVERTON , EARLY 70’S IN A DINER , WITH A JUKEBOX , AND ON THE JUKEBOX WAS ” ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH ” BY JOHN DENVER , IT JUST CAME OUT — SO THERE I WAS , EATING A TROUT OMELET , LISTENING TO JOHN DEUTCHENDORFF WHINNG ABOUT THE ROCKIES — I THREW UP MY TROUT …
I feel like I’m looking at pictures from childhood in the 60’s. Except my dad had a Scout. I barely remember the yellow ’57 CJ5 he had before (upgrading?).
I’ve seen those forward cabs, but my uncle had what I think was a fairly new FJ40 and a flatfender. My cousin was a driver for those tours back during the 70’s & 80’s. That company used 4wd Suburban’s with the roofs cut out. A fun song for younger kids (and me too) is the “you drive army jeep car” better know as Black Bear Road by C.W. McCall. Dan, did you guys camp out of the fatties for those 4 days?
THE BLACK BEAR ROAD GOES OVER THE SAN JUANS TO TELLURIDE — FROM U.S. 550 MILLION DOLLAR HIGHWAY — I’VE SEEN THE CUTOFF TO IT , NEVER TOOK IT , MY 4 CYL JEEPS DONT LIKE TO DRIVE FROM CALIF TO COLORADO …
