Thanks to Joe-in-Mesa for spotting, then buying/mailing me this great find out of an antique shop. He snagged it for $35. I’m happy with that price. It needs one of the windshield support arms fixed and some repainting, but otherwise it is in good shape.
After doing some research on eBay, I’ve discovered this one is a little different than the ones listed there or on the CJ-3B page. Those all seem to have a central hole in the back that’s used for pulling a trailer (see examples at the bottom of the post). Instead of a hole, this one has two slots (I found one other with two slots).
Here’s an example of one eBay jeep with the central hole and a trailer.
Here’s another example:
And, one more example.
And another:

looks like the floors and wheel wells been repaired with miniature diamond plate .
That’s funny, William :-). Did they even have or use diamond plate back when these Al-Toys were cast?
Glad you like it Dave! We’re always rummaging through antique/thrift/vintage shops and flea markets …looking for WWII jeep-related finds, and other cool old items.
Great find.. and it has some really good detail as well. A Willys (toy) Reunion at Dave’s should be in the works.. -Or pictures anyway.
Matt
Good morning.
I think you might be onto something. I’d be willing to bet my unpainted Al toy 2a would be fastest in soap box derby.
Hey Dave, I have an Oglesby just like yours with the two slots rather than a hole for the trailer. I also picked up the trailer for one at the Willys Reunion.
Matt: Toys big and small would be welcome 🙂
Bob: Maybe I can find some old ads that explain the slotted version? Those slots must have had a purpose.
Bob in NC: No way. Mine is the fastest!
Fix the windshield. Yes.
Paint it? NO!
I’m with rick! Don’t paint it!
I assume there was some kind of a thing that went into the slotted holes to hold a hitch.
Maybe the slots are there to mount the very, very, rare Oglesby Monroe 3pt. lift ??
Allan .. but does that mean I need to hack out the tail gate??? 🙂
Do they have replacement parts
Karl,
I am not aware of any replacement parts. There are sometimes broken/damaged ones on eBay that you can use as parts jeeps.

Hello anyone tell me about oglesby or Marx jeeps I think there cool
I have a bunch of these I bought I got some of them for free is there away to take the tires off and put on are these worth anything
Hi Karl,
Depending on condition, they can go for over $100 on eBay. I’d say that the value of these and the Al-Toys have dropped in value since the 2000s based on the ebay auctions I’ve seen.
I’ve never tried to remove the tires, but I image there is. Here’s more info: https://cj3b.info/Toys/Altoys.html
If you want to share pics of what you have, email me at d@deilers.com and I’ll share the pics with readers.
Thanks,
– Dave

Hello everyone. Did anybody figure out what the two slots were for? I have a decent collection of Oglesby and Al-toy jeeps and only have the oglesby with the hole for the trailer. Oglesby did use a more aggressive tire on a few of the jeeps also. I do have some duplicates and some project jeeps if anyone is interested feel free to email me. Thanks
Hi Ryan,
I’ve yet to learn why the slots are there. My guesses are a) for a different kind of trailer or b) for a rear seat.
Hi David,
Thanks for the response. I will ask some others also. they did have a plow for the front, but I have only seen a picture of one. Have a great day.
There was a rear plow with these I never seen one but on a ad for the jeep
Thanks Karl. I will see if I can hunt down an ad for them that shows that.

Hey Dave,
I also snagged a 2-slotted Ogelsby from a collector not too long ago.
He also happens to be reproducing parts for the Ogelsby jeep, car, and trailer. The parts are available on eBay.
Congrats and thanks Andy!
