“1950 willys Jeep CJ-3A has been fully restored, runs, drives, stops excellently and is ready to hit the road, trails, parade, car show, or WW3. The highly sought after go devil engine runs strong and starts first turn. 3 speed manual transmission functions as it should with no hesitation as does 4×4 high and low.
The frame is solid with VERY MINIMAL rust and no rot as it was garage kept and babied since the restoration. 64,xxx original miles on the odometer and less than 100 since rebuild. Original military wheels and tires have less than 100 miles on them, 99 percent tread and hold air excellent. All electronics, gauges, and mechanic components such as wipers, lights, horn ect function as they should. This jeep has been rebuilt tastefully to replicate original factory condition with a few functionality upgrades.
Tailgate was deleted to mount spare tire which will be included with sale. I have all necessary paperwork and then some including original Willys Jeep mechanics manual from 1957 laminated in great condition. I’m open to trades for vehicles preferably classic jeeps, willys, jeepster but prefer cash.”
Furthermore, this is not even close to a $12K jeep, especially for a civilian model. He might have that much into it, but he will never get that much out of it.
Seller has “Restored” and “Rebuilt” listed in ad however this appears to be a repair job from where I’m sitting. Seller can list/ask what ever he/she wants as far as price. It’s only worth what someone is willing to pay for it… and I agree, $12k ain’t happening.
CJ that’s militarized is not everyone’s cup of tea plus deleting the tailgate makes it even harder to revert back to civilian. Just to compare, Willys MBs are already in that price range, so I agree, that’s a tough sell.
One of his CL ads had it listed as a “military jeep” in the title. I emailed him and questioned him about that, but I made no mention of the price. He was not happy to say the least. I responded that as a veteran, I find it offensive when people try to capitalize by associating things with the military to make a buck, when the item is not military. He appreciated that even less.
Just noticed, price drop…$10,500
Thanks Tim. I’ve updated the post with the new price.
I agree with your frustrations!
Tim, I’m sad to say that my 3B is militarized BUT IF I do sell it, I will not sell it as a military jeep or an ‘M606’ but a 3B of course, no matter how much military stenciling and ammo cans its got. The most obvious giveaway is the tailgate and no data plates of course. And did you actually influenced the price drop by just a few hard questions?
Terry,
Sounds like you have a nice 3B. I don’t have any problem with someone militarizing their Willys, makes for a nice tribute actually, and it can still stir up fond memories for older vets. But this guy’s title in one of his ads is quite deceiving. I doubt I influenced the price. This jeep has been for sale for several months, and my guess is time is starting influence the price. I actually would love to see him get his price…so long as people know what they are getting up front. The more people get for their 3A’s, the more my M38 build will be worth! Ha! 🙂
