UPDATE: Still Available. Listed as a 1948, new pics confirm this to be a 1946 CJ-2A or earlier (as Sean also mentioned). It has floating hubs, too.

Grille and horn indicate ’45 or ’46
The extra hood latch is there because the welds broke loose on the hood brace near the hinge. Keeps it from flopping around until it’s repaired.
The yellow hood latch on the passenger side appears to not be attached, just setting there, removed from front position.
Tool indents, full floaters AND column-shift? Someone needs to pick this up..
Agree with the late ’45 to VERY early ’46 time-frame. The 2A guys will have to chime in here and help pin-point this but a quick trip to The CJ2A Owners Page wouldn’t hurt…

Just got back from looking at this jeep. Its a 45 2A identified by engine number cj2a 110xx. It has 49 2a tags and matching title…. number 213597.
The bad:
– Engine is locked up
– Body is very ruff with lots of crap welded on it and extra holes, doesn’t have a tool box.
– Rear cross member has been cut out and a crappy home made bumper welded back in.
– Windshield frame is junk… both inner and outer.
– driver seat frame is junk.
The good:
– Nice Spartan horn with correct long bezel.
– Nice column shift assembly.
– Engine compartment is reasonably intact.
– Has a agrijeep passenger seat frame that is in reasonably good shape.
It’s burried very deep in a building with tons of stuff in the way so whoever buys it will have to budget an hour or two to dig it out. IMO it’s not worth the $3500 asking price.

Having been involved with a GPW project for years, I’m looking for a very early CJ and this one seems like it has good potential. I spoke today to the guy who’s selling it and he sent me photos of the ID tags. Sadly, the serial plate on the dashboard is missing and the one on the firewall is for a ’48 or ’49 (The good part is the tag does match the title for the vehicle.)
Unfortunately, I’m located in DC so I can’t get out to see this for a few weeks. Mr. DeYoung, if you happen to see this post, would you mind emailing me at zeemail at aol dot com? I’d like to give you my phone number and hopefully catch up with you on the phone so I can ask you a few more details about what you saw and your opinion on whether it’s worth my going out there one weekend to look at it.
