Rare DJ-5 non-mail jeep. Needs a little body work on the driver’s fender, but otherwise this looks like a rare find in good shape. This is a former US Army vehicle (no pic of a Gov plate).

That is one good looking DJ-5. Are those sliding windows in that Meyers top?
Yes they are.
That is not a DJ5 that is a CJ5. DJ5s had a completely different engine and frame than that in 1970.
If this is an original 2WD Jeep: why is there a 4WD instruction plate on the dash to the left of the steering wheel? You have to go to the Craigslist ad and enlarge the photos to see it.
Gayland: I didn’t notice the sliding windows. I’ll see if I can identify that model.
Clayton: There were a line of DJ-5s made by Kaiser (which differed from the DJ-5A and later Dispatcher commonly, but not exclusively, used by the post office). You can see specs for the DJ-5 here: http://www.ewillys.com/2017/05/31/dj-5dj-6-documents/ … I thought the DJ-5s were only made through 1968, but this clearly has a 1970 manufacture tag on the dash. The 8505 serial number of DJ-5s made by Kaiser is consistent with the serial number on the yellow sticker on this DJ-5s dash. The Gov dash plate should also have the model number, which would add evidence that this was originally a DJ-5.
Buddy: I can’t read the dash plate well, but doing a search for other CJ-5s with a similar plate didn’t not yield any other examples, so I’d say there is something special about this plate. I would like to see a better photo of it. But, as I mention above. the yellow sticker’s serial number is consistent with it being a DJ-5.
Yes ,yes , yes, this is a Dj 5. I own a 1970 Dj 5 4 cyl 3 speed floor mounted stick shift 2WD ,same as pictured but not Army . Same frame as Cj 5 . with a tube type front axle .
