UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
(03/05/2018) Chris spotted this DJ-3A. Looks like a good price and it appears the Navy tag is on the far right side of the dash.
“1962 Department of the Navy, Willy’s Jeep, Flat Fender, Model DJ3A. $3,500.00 firm, will also consider trading for a mid-size pickup truck of equal value.”
Solid rear tail with top supports and a rear seat? Maybe a Surrey originally? Is it in DJ Archives Dave?
Steve, I wasn’t sure if it was a Surrey or a DJ-3A convertible. My searches suggest this is not in the archives.
Hi, I’m interested in your vehicle. I would like to have more information about the car .. thanks
Andres, you’ll have to contact the seller to learn more via this link: https://tricities.craigslist.org/cto/d/1962-willys-jeep/6517777480.html

Dave, Why isn’t this one in the DJ section? Tall windshield suggests not a “convertible”, but who knows what has been changed over time?.
By the hubcaps appearance, the wheels are not stock, perhaps 14″ Falcon origin, which fit nicely and are cheap.
I can see the faint outline of the original Serial number plate next to the air cleaner, but it is covered with purple paint. IF we had the serial number, it might give more clues as to the origin of this Jeep. It has several modifications, including Dodge Dart hubcaps, an alternator, and the M38 headlight rings and guards as well as the tow hooks. Both of those items could have been part of the military specs for DJ3As in 1962.
Steve, it was supposed to be. Fixed now.
Could this be the DJ3A ‘FENCE RIDER’ edition that was used for security detail at military airfields?
Keith .. never heard of the ‘Fence Rider’ edition. Top secret order?
I’ll try to find the BOM and/or pictures of it…
I think it looks awesome from here. Not a fan of the purple but still pretty cool.
This seems like a great price for it too
