UPDATE: I have closed the Willys Online website.
No updates Sunday, but if you like old cars, you might want to check out Willysonline.com, a site I just took over and revamped (much work left to do). The central theme is Willys Overland automobiles (such as Overlands, HenryJs, Willys-Knights and others) and any other vintage auto that I happen to run across while doing eWillys.
It won’t have the regular updates and features that eWillys does, but it’s something I’ll build and perhaps hand it off to someone else down the line (as I really don’t know much about these vintage cars).
Really like this idea Dave. I see an opportunity to preserve these cool cars as well and there have been many times I have wanted a place to share info about them. Recently found a hood and wheels for one and was fortunate enough to get them to someone who could use them. They are after all a part of the family!
Excellent. Added to “Favorites” to look over each morning with my coffee. What’s cooler than a Willys Aero, after all.

Dave, Interesting how your passion of Willys Jeeps has expanded to Willys passenger cars. As a child back in the 1950’s my experience was similar. (warning, another story from the past) My dad had a 1940 Willys 4 door sedan that my Uncle Joe gave him. At the time, Unc had put a deposit down on an early used Jeepster at Golden Sales & Service, (remember my story about Morris Golden) with or without knowing, Morris already had a deposit on the Jeepster. So now having my Uncle Joe’s money, He sold him the 1940 Willys. As time went by, Unc bought a Nash Rambler and gave the Willys to my dad. The flathead 4 cylinder got to a point when it needed a valve job that was done by the “Little Beaver” (Local Native Indian) and the Willys was never reliable transportation again.

Mike, It’s been a while since I investigated the latest wordpress comment plugins. I will see what is out there. I have wanted a more robust comment system. One reason I’ve kept this comment system simple is that roughly 4 times a year over the last 10 years WordPress had provided updates to the core system, so that any plugins that I add should also be updated, but plugin developers come and go, so I’ve applied the KISS strategy to keep things working fairly smoothly. In fact, I have implements a comment system that would allow users to edit their comments, but twice that has disappeared during updates. Another issue with allowing photos is that I get bombarded with millions of spam comments yearly. The text anti-spam system works well, but I don’t know how well it would work if it would allow images.
Chris, I too would see non-jeep Willys stuff nightly. I used to save links and send them to some whippet guys, but I think this will work better. Now the challenge I face is learning all about the different cars!

Ha! I always kinda liked the little Aeros. Maybe I just have a soft spot for ugly orphans… on the other hand, I think the functional, “non-extravagent” styling is nicely balanced and appealing. And the reasonably simple and economical (for the day) mechanicals are a plus. Not to mention, they are SO cheap compared to Chevys, Fords, Dodges, Studebakers – well, compared to virtually everything, basically! They also get points because Willys did so well on an absolutely shoe string budget. Look how popular they became in Brazil (and elsewhere) in the ’60’s, and I think the US version was the better styling, if not as well or luxuriously equipped and powered. I suspect most people that think they’re ugly have never been exposed to a wide range of eras and manufacturers, and are really just saying “it doesn’t look like what I’m accustomed to.” Ugly is a Pontiac Aztek.
