UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2900.
Bill spotted this one. The fenders on this are rough, especially the passenger side. But, still might be a good price.
“Fixer-upper, 1970 Jeep CJ5 Dauntless, 50k miles, 2 wheel drive, V-6 225 c.i. engine, automatic transmission, like new tires. This is a Dauntless, a unique Jeep CJ5 that came with the V6 225 c.i. engine and automatic transmission. Engine is in good shape, runs smooth and clean, no leaks, lots of torque and power, (not like the underpowered 4 cylinder).”
Automatic? Where they an option in ’70? A jeep with an automatic just doesn’t seem right!
this has to be home made — or an old mail wagon — never heard of a v-6 auto 2wd cj — dj maybe ? ? — I have enough stuff just laying in my driveway to make it 4wd …
I can’t find any evidence they were a dealer option. I would lean toward this being an aftermarket swap.
AMC certainly had experience with different automatic transmissions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMC_Transmission_Applications), but there’s no evidence I see of a V6 being mated with an auto tranny by AMC.
EXCUSE ME , I have so many jeeps I forgot — I have a 1970 jeepster commando , 225 v-6 , turbo 400 automatic — but its 4wd — it would be very easy to convert the tailpiece or swap another 2wd turbo 400 into a cj and have what this guy has ..
Hi . I’m interested in buying the jeep but I need more information about the vehicle. the price is negotiable ? . Thank you for your attention
