UPDATE: As Keith points out, it’s an f-head. But, that looks like a t-84 tranny to me. This could be a good find for someone.
“Selling my 1942 Jeep Willy’s motor, tranny and transfer case. Everything works perfect. Just pulled out cause I had different plans for the Jeep. Motor was rebuilt by R&Q in Selah less than 10k miles ago. Tranny is a 3 speed”

Yep, that’s not a 1942 engine. Pretty clearly an F head.
Almost had me convinced to drive 1000 miles for an engine….
that’s the first thing I saw too…a top valve cover!
I was wondering about that. But, then my brain interpreted it as an L-head with a valve cover sitting on top of it. I looked for a carb on engine’s passenger side and didn’t see it. But, now that I look today, I can see the carb. Sometimes, it is easy to see what you want to see rather than what is there!
