UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
(10/05/2017) It’s missing the steps, but appears solid. As the seller notes, the VIN 39353 def suggests it is one of the last column shifts made.
“46 CJ-2A Column Shift. Runs and drives good. Just took it on a 500 mile cruise a couple of weekends ago. New gauges, rebuilt starter, new voltage regulator, powder coated wheels, heater. Solid jeep. Side steps are missing, but I have them and they go with it. Serial Number: 39353. Quite possible one of the last column shifts made. Text preferable. Thanks for looking.”
Parts List states last column shift jeep serial number to be 38221. Possibly seller misstated the number.
That’s a good point. Also, I can imagine a variety of possibilities in this case, from an inaccurate parts listing by W-O, to a customer order that required this jeep be a column shift (maybe ordered prior to the decision to end the column shift at 38221), to this jeep not being as original as stated. But, figuring these things out is part of the fun 🙂
This reminds me of a Jeep my employer once restored.
His specialty was refinishing high end grand pianos.
He could lay out and buff laquer so it always looked glossy and wet.
I still see too many missing seams and improper contours to believe it has less than 3/8 of an inch of bondo everywhere including the hat sections and patch between the toolbox and rear floor.
It will look nice for a while and be fun, but resale value may be a problem.
