Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The Fall 2017 issue of Dispatcher Magazine arrived in my mailbox yesterday. Kevin and Bill put together a great article on the Alaska Trip.

I hope that was just the 2017 version and that there is a possibility of another in the future. I know there are a lot of folks who lived vicariously through you guys Dave that would love a chance to go themselves. Great trip.
Is Hugo’s book out yet?
Lew: I have no plans to do another one, but Bob Christy and Scott Gilbert would like a chance to complete the journey. So, they’ve been talking about doing another one.
Bob: Hugo is working hard on the book. I doubt it will be published before Spring.
For any who may consider it in the future, I have done the drive several times over the years and consider it too large an undertaking to do as a round trip, a least for my wife and I. However, riding the Alaska Marine Ferry from Bellingham to Whittier (60 miles out of Anchorage) to begin, then driving home is an option that is a most enjoyable way to do the drive at a manageable level.
