Here’s another Las Brisas Menu from 1966. I have one from August of ’66. This one is from July.
“Date: July 30, 1966.
Restaurant: Las Brisas Hotel.
Location: Acapulco, Mexico.
Size when open: 14 x 23 inches – 3 panel card stock menu.
The World’s Only Hotel With Room Service By Jeep.”
The prices look current for today’s nice restaurants.
If the prices are in US dollars then holy crap! I’ve had frog legs I gigged myself during this time as a very young boy during our camp outs. I knew then they were very tasty but never knew a meal of the them cost this much!!! The water I see was a problem even back then, LOL. What, did celebs or rich folk only go to this place?
This was a high end resort. At one point it won an award for being the #1 resort in the world.
Stayed there in 1966 – 1967. They painted these little signs that said “Casa (whatever your last name was)” and you could take them home with you….had mine for every home I owned until 1978. A great place … hibiscus in the pool in the morning and a great breakfast tray. Happy times.
Hi Iza,
Thanks for the note. It sounds like you visited not long after it opened? That must have been a real treat! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed your stay (and your sign).
