It was busy at this year’s Great Willys Picnic. Thanks to Craig for sharing these photos.
There were 84 Willys and around 25 people selling parts etc.! They included a modern Jeep section with 35 Wranglers, a few CJ’s, and even a 54 Chevy pickup. The intimate nature of the Willys Picnic is a nice contrast to the huge Bantam Festival that also occurred this weekend, which most definitely has a more commercial and newer jeep focus.
Modern section? I was there – a few hot rods, but I didn’t see modern jeeps, not, a bunch of Wranglers. Might have been in the parking lots. A few were post Willys and in my thinking being this is the Willys Picnic shouldn’t have been there. There a All Jeeps show for them in York. Willys shows need to keep to the Willys theme. Same thing with EWillys – if you start the modern vehicles it’s no longer EWillys
Yes there was a section for ” modern ” non willys jeeps on the other side of the road , that led to the parking lot . Great show !
My wife and I couldn’t bring the 2A this year, but drove down in the JKU… they directed me to the lawn just behind the military’s… didn’t really give it much thought, just assumed they wanted a “jeep life” theme for others coming in. Lol, I had no idea I was in the “modern section”
When I pulled in, I noticed there was a sign which said “Jeep, Non-Willys Parking” to the right of the drive to the parking lot. I think that was a nice touch, but certainly wasn’t part of the show.
Dave, it was great. I hope you can make it there someday.
Our Show is indeed a Willys show, and will stay that way. It seams there are often lots of other Jeeps that come, and I wanted them together, I liked how it worked out, It was a separate section but there where neat rigs in there, I think more then a few wondered over and took a look, I know I did. We had 84 Willys in attendance at the show, the wranglers and others where in addition.
What a Great Day!! Weather wise and Willys wise, the atmosphere was fantastic especially if you are into Special Equipment. The variety is outstanding whether you are into stock or modified, and it’s ALL FREE. Seth, Bob W and all the staff bust their butts to pull this 8 hour event off. Put next year’s GWP on your Bucket List. Thanks for a memorable Day, well worth the 1070 miles Sat, Sun, & Mon round trip from Maine.
Tee shirts auailable?
Drove down from Rhode Island with my M38A1. Met a bunch of great folks, had a great time, and saw some incredible Willys. Thank you Windyhill for your help with my trailer flat and the offer of your house/garage too! First class!!!

1962 Willys Wagon…I enjoyed the show very much. It was nice to meet all. I had two flats on the trailor and had to spend over night near PA and MD line. But got home OK. Thanks all ……
It was another GREAT Willys event!! It was very nice to see all the Jeeps and chat with everyone.
