UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500.
(10/07/2016) I don’t recognize the half top model.
“I have a 1961 Willys Jeep CJ5 frame is in good condition great winter restoration project it has a motor and transmission and motor turns over but does not run I also have the title and owners manual original 1961 $600 or best offer”
I like it too…cool top
The door must be square all the way down with that huge window.
This is from my “NECK OF THE WOODS”, still a few of these old Jeeps sitting for decades at the back of old gas stations. This one looks familiar. Near Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, NJ there was a Gulf & a Exxon station on opposite sides of Broad st. Both stations had red CJ5’s with different half tops. As a kid back in the early 60’s, I’d ask Uncle Joe to drive past them just to look and make my day. Back then, I always thought the Gulf Jeep should have been orange.
I’m sure most of you guys have stories like this, we all like to hear “Tales From The Past”, don’t be embarrassed to post them. This is what makes life enjoyable. P.S. Booton, NJ is in Morris County.
Mike, you should get this… do a mechanical restoration only (chassis and running gear)… keep that incredible history and patina. Better still, I’m going in Springfield NJ at the end of this week: I wonder if my kids could pool their money and get me this for Christmas. 1961 makes this CJ5 the same age as me 🙂
I agree … the Gulf jeep should have been orange.
Great Idea Joe, If you can convince your kids to make this happen, I’ll even kick in a $50.00 donation.
Hey Dave, I think if we let that rust a little longer, it begins to look ORANGE.
