“This is a CJ-5 Silver Anniversary Edition which was offered by the Jeep Corporation to commemorate 25 years of the first CJ-5 introduced by Willy’s Motors.
The Silver Anniversary CJ-5 featured special Quick Silver paint not found on any other Jeep vehicles, chrome spoked style wheels, a black vinyl soft top, Renegade stripes in special silver tones, seats trimmed in black vinyl with silver thread contrast stitching, silver buttons, and a unique 25th anniversary crest (Dashboard plaque)
In addition, regular options applied to the silver anniversary CJ-5 include L78 X 15 Tracker PG tires, wheel lip extensions, black anodized rocker panel moldings, roll bar, convenience and decor groups, tachometer, rally clock, gray full carpeting, and a center console.
This information is based on a local press release supplied by American Motor Sales Corporation R.D, Rolland who was the manger of Jeep Sales Promotion on March 21, 1979 when the dealers were informed that they were scheduled to receive 1 Limited Edition Silver Anniversary CJ-5.
This particular Silver Anniversary has been restored and includes all these unique feature. NOS seats covering and a NOS correct Whitco AMC soft top have been sourced as well as correct original chrome wheels on factory tires, Jeep AM functioning radio. dash pad, center console, correct carpeting, and shift lever knobs all to ensure this Jeep appears exactly as provided by AMC back in the day.
The only upgrades are seen in the exhaust and the addition of a HEI ignition. I saved the original distributor and wires and will be included. The tires are 37 years old and it is recommended that these should be used for presentation purposes only.
Original 304 V8 motor and T150 manual 3 speed mated to a Dana 20 transfer case. Warn lock out hubs etc.
The body, frame, and chassis are rock solid with no repairs or rust present. The Jeep has not been exposed to any weathering condition since the restoration process.
I’m certain you will appreciate the extreme lengths we’ve gone through to assemble one of the finest CJ-5 Silver Anniversary in existence.
The title is my name, free and clear therefore its ready for immediate transfer of ownership. Shipping can be facilitated anywhere in the world.”
Am I reading that price right, or is that a typo? Holy cow, how does this guy justify thirty eight big ones?
