I saw this the other day on Facebook. Lester notes it was published in Army Motors Magazine.

Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
There are plenty of interesting, unusual, historic and surprising stories related to Jeeps and their owners. In addition, some of these features have nothing to do with jeeps. This link will display all featured stories starting from the latest.
Looking for parts and not sure where to go? There are a variety of large and small new and used parts sellers both online and offline.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

Do you think this mod would do any good, Dave?
I would imagine it would help reduce the cracking. I’ve never run across a jeep with this mod. However, it also changes the flexing of the rear, which could possibly create a new weak spot. Perhaps there is a reason it was never widely adopted??
I haven’t seen this before in any literature either. It kind of looks like it came out a 1940’s or 50’s Popular Mechanics, but then again there were lots of other do-it-yourself magazines in that era.
Note the text in the top photo. A closer reading of the text suggests the article came out while the jeeps were still being manufactured by Willys and Ford on the assembly line. Yet, the “you can do it too” makes it sound like the article is written for folks at home. However, maybe it was written for military motor pool mechanics??
Oh, that Sgt. Crocker. Always making the jokes…
This is an article published in Army Motors magazine from WW2. Army Motors was published by the military to provide tips and updates to its motor pool mechanics. Was published from the 40,s to early 60,s.
Correction to my above post: Army Motors started publication in 1939, in 1951 the name was changed to PS Magazine containing tips on all kinds of weapons and eguipment besides motor vehicles. It is still published today.
Thanks Lester.
