I was going to suggest maybe it isn’t a box but some kind of primitive snow plow, but the I noticed this is in Georgia.

Very strange modification, maybe a counter weight. Jeep possible used as tug? It also has some sort of equipment brackets on hood. We may never know what “Bubba” was up to!
