(03/12/2016) Looks in good shape.
“1946 Willys CJ2A. I found this wonderful Willys/Jeep in dry storage where it has been since 1987. It was last driven then. It was repainted once in the late 1970’s. 1979 is what I was told. I don’t claim to be a jeep expert but I have been restoring muscle cars for 30 years. I don’t recall seeing anything any vehicle cleaner than this Willys. It is in astounding condition for a 70 year old vehicle. I own a repair garage and as such went through this Willys mechanicals from end to end. Fluids all drained refilled. I rebuilt the fuel pump, master cylinder and carburetor. I removed the oil pan to check for debris, clean and reseal. The entire fuel system was cleaned spotless to remove all old fuel residues. Plugs and points were installed. Upon completion of all this work, I hit the starter button and the original engine fired immediately and runs perfectly.
This Willy’s appears to be a one repaint. Under the vehicle and here and there up top it still has its original pasture green paint. The autumn yellow wheels have been repainted on the outside but appear to be original paint on the inner wheel. Paint is not perfect but is very good for the age. They did paint over wiring and some hardware when it was painted. A friend worked on this vehicle with me who is much more Willy’s savvy than I am. He indicated he has never seen one in this condition. The underside is truly near rust free. Everything works. Lights, 4×4 starts right up and goes down the road very well. The horse hair felt around the radiator perfectly intact. The chrome headlight trims rings are as new. The leather boots around the shifters are still intact. The body mount material between the body and frame perfectly intact. Seats are original and again very nice. The Willys has a 70’s vintage Best Top soft top and doors. Again, in great shape for the age. The Goodyear tires were new and have very few miles. You get the idea.
My best advice is come see it for yourself. It is not perfect, it is not showroom but it is a very rare find and the saying goes they are only original once and this one is as close to as built as you will find. The odometer shows 29k miles I was told its actual. The wear or lack thereof supports it. It is absolutely ready to drive and enjoy now. Please call if you are interested in getting more information. Price is $14900.00″”
Wow beautiful great condition
Looks like it’s had some body work done. I don’t see a spare tire holder. Looks like the tip might have been bondo’d. Is that the correct radiator? I’m thinking a fair price would be closer to $8k. What do you all think?
The lack of a spare is odd…
I don’t think anybody can do a build of this quality for $12,900. How much does it cost to buy a spare tire carrier and bolt it on? You can buy ’em cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
Sold.
You can plainly see patch’s in the tool box and on the driver’s floor board. a lot of money for a cobbled up body work. It was done with the body on the frame. Poor work.
