UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $850.
This Roper is different than others I’ve seen or documented. Maybe it was primarily sold to tractors?
“1940’s Roper Iron Works pto post hole digger for Willy’s Jeep or tractor in good condition. Appears to be complete and comes with auger, may have two others. Turns smooth and freely. Located about 30 miles north of Lake Havasu City”
The Roper I believe was a jeep approved product. This one looks like you don’t use your three point arms with it.
Yes, they had several products. Here are some brochures:
– Roper Post Hole Digger: http://www.ewillys.com/2012/08/11/1955-roper-post-hole-digger-brochure-on-ebay/
– Roper Dozer Blade and Digger: http://www.ewillys.com/2012/08/23/1948-roper-brochures-for-the-dozer-blade-and-post-hole-digger-on-ebay/
– Roper Pump: http://www.ewillys.com/2013/04/06/1955-roper-pumps-brochure-on-ebay/
Is this the same product that used a Ford third member? I think Glenn came across one like this a couple of years back.
The mounting arm bracket doesn’t look the same but I found another manufacturer of those digger into my Jeep special equipment. Stratton made them also.

Yes, I found a Roper Post Hole Digger in Western PA, not far from where it was made in Zanesville, OH. Like Colin said, Roper used a 40’s Ford car rear end assembly as the guts of it. Newgren rebadged this same unit and sold thru Willys. I still have mine along with a bunch more 3 point hitch stuff for my ’53 Farm Jeep with Monroe setup. Some Willys Special Equipment Books show this as Roper, others Newgren. Glad Dave had the brochure and price sheet to show us. This model looks like a later edition, maybe 60’s.
