UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.
Might make a good project.
“This is among the rarest of all the Willys jeeps. This is a 1951 panel delivery and there were only 154 made. This one came to me in a lot of cars I bought. I had to buy all of them to get the one I wanted so I ended up with others that I’m going to sell. This cool old ride has a 1971 model 302 Mustang engine and transmission, as well as a Ford 8” rear end (with 2.79 gears). All I’ve done under the hood since I’ve owned it is rebuild the carburetor and replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump and changed the oil & filter. The engine starts right up and runs good. The transmission works just as it should also. I put a new master cylinder on it but only have rear brakes. I believe that the front wheel cylinders are seized up. I bought rebuild kits for the front wheel cylinders but have not had time to rebuild them.
This beauty is sitting on it’s original Willys frame and it looks GREAT! The front suspension is still Willys as well.
As far as drivability, it starts, runs, shifts and stops (with back brakes only). Although I drove it up and down my street I would call it a ‘yard driver’ until more brake work is done to it. The original 1951 speedometer actually works! So does the vintage 1960’s flat face tach. I do have a clear Tennessee title in my name for this cool, unique vehicle.
As you can see from the pictures it’s got typical rust in typical places. The very front of the front floors are rusty as well as both back floor corners in the box. The main box floor is in great condition as are the fenders, hood, most of the side panels, top, etc…. Where there is rust it’s just flat panels that are easy to replace. Over the years previous owners have attempted to do body work in various places. Personally, if I were going to keep it I would media blast it down to bare metal, replace the metal that needs replacing and put it in satin black paint and drive it every day. Oh, I would also have to change that sexy 1970’s shag carpet to some fresh shag!
As you can see the inside is Shag-O-Licious! This thing is a TRUE Rat Rod!!! It doesn’t have stupid looking “Fo-tina” (where people sand on paint to make it look old and weathered), this baby has real patina and it’s rocked it for decades. It has an iconic front end with beautiful front bumper. As you can see in the pictures I also have the impossible to find rear wrap around bumper for it too. I’m NOT selling parts off this vehicle. If you need the bumper you have to buy the whole Willys.
If you are looking for the most unique, original Rat Rod out there, this is your ride! If you are looking for a super rare Willys Jeep to restore, it fits that window as well. Any way you look at it, this is well worth the price.
I’m NOT interested in ANY trades so don’t waste my time offering. I’m NOT interested in payments, checks, money orders, wire transfers or any other line of BS. This is a cash in hand sale only. You had me cash and I hand you keys and a clear/open Tennessee title. Bring a trailer or tow truck. It’s not currently tagged and I wouldn’t trust those brakes on the road.
This is a project vehicle. Sure it starts, runs and moves, but there’s still plenty of work needed. If you are expecting to come buy it and drive it happily ever after, this is not the right vehicle for you. However, having a SUPER COOL ride like this that already runs is a great start on your future dream toy.
Feel free to email, text or call if you are a serious buyer. If you don’t have $3000 in cash to spend, please don’t waste my time. I’m in Murfreesboro not far from Sam’s Club. I am willing to show it by appointment only and in the order I’m contacted about it. If you want to see more pictures of the underside contact me with and email address or text me and I can send them by text.”
That’s all that were made in 1951. There are several thousand Deliveries out there.
