UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000
This has a turbo, too.
“This is a beautiful 1947 Willys “Arctic” Jeep that is mostly complete in a conversion to a turbo aspirated 4 cylinder Kubota Diesel. The $1200 conversion kit is fully installed, the transmission has had a full $1200 rebuild by Bobby’s Transmission in Meridian, and I installed a $900 overdrive unit on the transmission. The $1200 turbo kit has only been test installed, and then I removed it to prevent damage while I was working on fitting the engine to the Jeep. The turbo fits perfectly….see picture. The original gas tank has been replaced with a new one, the radiator has had a commercial clean out, pressure test, and paint job, there is a new electric fan to replace the engine mounted fan, and much more. The only parts I have not yet purchased for the conversion and rebuild is either a full brake rebuild kit, or a disk brake conversion kit, which was what I was planning to install. You will also need to buy a set of CHT and turbo boost gauges. I have already purchased almost everything else to complete the conversion, including a new high end billet gas pedal and a Diesel “pull to stop” control.
The original flat head engine had been replaced with an overhead cam Hurricane engine, and the additional height of the “new” Jeep engine required the previous owner to cut a hole in the hood for the air cleaner to stick up through. The new Kubota Diesel engine and turbo is low enough that the engine and turbo will not have clearance problems, so the hole in the hood can be covered with a round piece of sheet metal or diamond plate aluminum. I can supply you the heavy sheet metal I was going to use for this task. The Jeep currently has a tow bar attached, but the tow bar goes with my other Jeep, and is not included in the sale, however if you do not have one I could work out a deal with you so you can easily tow it home. If you have your own tow bar, bring it, as I would like to keep mine as it is top quality. The Diesel engine is currently not in the Jeep, see pictures, so you would need to bring a pickup, and I can easily set the engine in the back of your truck on a cradle I made for it (see pictures). Do bring lots of tie down hardware.
The pictures include a picture of the Kubota Diesel with the turbo test mounted, along with the new high output alternator. Also, I have included two pictures taken the day I towed the Willys home so you can see its condition. The Hurricane engine had blown a cylinder, so did not run. You can also see the hole in the hood with the air breather sticking up through it, which is no longer needed. I have also included several pictures when I was installing the clutch and engine conversion plate.
I am 70 years old and am rapidly losing my eyesight, and am unable to complete the conversion as I had planned. I have three eye surgeries scheduled, and at this point I just do not want to take the chance of ending up with a partially completed Jeep conversion in my shop, and have little or no eyesight if the surgeries are not successful. I have additional health issues too that are causing me increasing problems. So after many weeks of thought I have decided to pass the Jeep on to some lucky person who can get the enjoyment out of it that I had hoped to have. If you have questions feel free to email or phone me. I am here almost all the time, so you can come up to see it just about any time that works for you. You will not be disappointed.
Lastly, I do not accept personal checks, money orders, or bank drafts, so bring cash or silver coin if you think you may want to buy the Jeep. I do not accept silver bars, only coin, because I do not have the ability to check the validity/purity of silver bars. Thank yo
I’m interested to know the model number of the Kubota engine
Sir,
Is this vehicle still available?
Hi Joseph,
I haven’t seen this relisted recently. I suspect it sold. I’ve update the post.
