This is just 12 minutes from my house in Mesa… so if anyone needs me to check it out, let me know. This certainly has potential… but where’s the starter motor? Nothing behind the generator in the right side engine bay pic on Craigslist. Don’t see the coil either, come to think of it.
The good news is a straight body, no real rust, reasonably complete and mostly original.

Joe I was also looking at this. If your that close it would be great if you could check it out and get the details.

    Joe,

Note that the distributor to coil wire (from center of distributor) heads through the firewall, suggesting that the coil is inside the cowl.

I believe I see the start in the photo. There’s just something about the angle of the photo that seems to disguise it.

Joe Jennings. I called the seller and I’m heading there now. Anything in particular you’d like to know, see (get a pic of)? Please comment back in the next 15 minutes. Or call me:

Joe. I would like to know if it runs. If it’s still 6 volts and how are the floors and hat channels. Thanks.

Just got back from checking it out. Very nice overall for an unrestored original project. Yes, the starter was there, like Dave said :-). It started right up and sounded good… both times. The only missing items are the horn and oil bath air filter (he does have the crossover tube). Some “workable” hat channel rust on each side and a rust hole in the drivers floor, passenger floor, and tool box area. That aluminum top is cool. OH, and it has the ORIGINAL COIL under the dash behind the ignition switch! The only unknown for me would be the cargo area. It’s been covered by a steel panel, tack welded in a few spots. At least one of the two rear corners was reinforced or repaired also, but in a nice secure manner that you don’t easily notice.
Clean title, notorized and ready to go… but he’s holding out for almost asking price (says he turned down $2000 cash). Seller is a good guy, too, who knows what he has.

Too bad he passed on the guys before me who offered him $2000.
This jeep is worth this price… in my opinion (see my previous narrative/comments).

hi is this jeep still for sale? My number 774 302 6093 you said for us to call so if you call me and give me your number I will call you back on my dime! thanks Mark

    Hi Mark,

I haven’t seen this relisted recently on Craigslist. If I do see it again, I’ll drop you a note.

    Dave,
This is the one I checked out personally for another eWillys reader …and probably should have bought for myself. But it SOLD shortly thereafter. The seller usually works on Corvairs. I drive past his place regularly.
