Here’s a very restorable VEC. It is one of the last 1945 CJ-2As produced.
“Original 1st year civilian jeep ,#1809 out of 1824 all 3 I’d tags present, body and tail gate numbers match # 1821. This jeep has had all systems rebuilt at one time by me. Runs drives like it was designed. Frame and body never been butchered or modified. Original springs and shocks,converted to 12 volt with stock generator. Optional rear seat with grey leatherette cover. Slight rust in step Chanels.”

The last time this jeep was for sale I think the price was $12,000.00. It,s defenitely a great start for a restoration but I doubt the seller will get that even on E Bay. By the way the E Bay listing won,t come up. Even if I could get that much for my 1945 CJ2A 10510 it would not be enough to compell me to sell it.

I can still see the auction photos of the ’45. If anyone else can see them, can any of you explain why it has lock-out hubs on the rear axle?
To unlock all l four wheels for towing.
Yes, most likely towing. However, worst case scenario, if you brake a rear axle you can still limp home on the front axles (dad said that’s why he ran floaters in the rear).

That and if you break an axle the wheel and hub still stay attached to the Jeep. If you have to tow it out, it’s a whole lot easier on 4 wheels than 3. The likelihood of breaking an axle outside the bearing and retainer is obviously slim but…
