This photo was published on Facebook by the Museum of Moab and shows Alice and Mac McKinney’s CJ-3A at Arches National Monument in 1963 (it didn’t become a National Park until 1971).  I haven’t been to the Museum of Moab (didn’t know it existed — we’ll have to give it a try next time we are through there).

The Mckinneys – good friends of our family, Moqui Migrants, and one time owners of Horsethief Ranch. She was a real hero to my mom, and they were both, by all accounts, real salt of the earth people who were also tougher than cat $hi+. Mac’s back was broken by a wayward bovine, ad they said he’d never walk again. He proved them all wrong.

Thanks Tom. I appreciate those insights. Nice to see the people in these photos come alive 🙂
